What does Arpan do?

Arpan takes a 360-degree approach to protecting children from sexual abuse.
Their programs fall into three powerful categories:

1. Prevention Through Education

Their flagship Personal Safety Education (PSE) program equips children to:

• Understand safe vs unsafe touch

• Learn to say “No” confidently

• Identify and reach out to trusted adults

• Break secrecy around abuse

They also train teachers, parents, and school staff to build a safe and responsive environment around the child.

2. Healing Through Counseling

Children who have faced sexual abuse — and their caregivers — receive free, trauma-informed therapy from Arpan’s team of trained counselors.

Therapy outcomes show:

• 89% of children showed improved emotional regulation

• 67% practiced healthy coping

• 81% felt more hopeful about their future

3. Policy & Advocacy

Arpan actively advocates for better CSA awareness and legal protections in India, including education about the POCSO Act (2012), which criminalizes child sexual abuse and mandates child-friendly reporting mechanisms.

They also produce research reports, digital campaigns (like #ProtectedByPOCSO), and awareness weeks (like Child Safety Week) that reach tens of thousands across the country.
